Honestly, being able to claim that you liked something before the bandwagon did feels incredible. Like this dude for instance: http://www.teeelmusic.com
That or it just makes you feel really old! You know kids these days are calling Smashing Pumpkins retro?!?!Also, I’ve never heard of this teeel music. Good find! :]
Haha “but in a manly way” nice. I’ve been putting a lot of random tags that have to do with the comic for tumblr in hopes that I can maybe pick up a new reader or two somewhere on that place.
I’ve never thought of Indie as a genre so much as a way to describe bands that just haven’t made it big, yet we still see radio stations for rock, pop and indie. It’s like, “Wait, what? Indie what?” When I first heard the term, indie music, I thought it was like Indian music or something.
See, that’s exactly what bothers me. To a lot of people “indie” IS a genre.. but it make no sense! Half the time what they are describing is actually modern folk music and/or alternative rock (which in itself is already a vague ass genre).LOL the Indian music thing made me laugh.
Wait, I thought indie was the music that was decent but not mainstream, and hipster was a bunch of self important ‘bad poets’.See, I never understood labels. In fact I rarely refer to people by name, acknowledging them with a ‘hey’ or ‘hows it going?’ Most actors and famous people get a ‘that guy who did the thing’. And music falls into vague categories: good, poo sounds invading my ears, at first it was good but it just gets worse over time, I like it because I can take the piss out of it, I sing my fricken heart out no matter who tries to stab me in the face for doing so.
Sorry, too much caffeine, lost train of thought. I’ll just post anyways… (also tabbing from the ‘name’ field should take me to the ’email’ field so that I don’t accidentally start searching the page for my email..O_o)
I think that’s what people intended that label to be.. but then all the “indie bands” became mainstream cos everyone started listening to them to avoid the mainstream. Which is why its bad to name things based on general labels rather than labels that closely relate to actual sound. Having two bands that sound NOTHING alike in the same genre, is just stupid. lol
We do it to make money, of course. Labels sell, its why we have trademarks.Great comic by the way, forgot how I stumbled on it, but it is amusing that only Metalbeard bothered to drink.
No, I’m semi actively working on the script… I’m just waiting for my art to get better/be able to better manage my time between multiple projects. My current focus is learning how to write better jokes, which is where Words of Interest comes in. Those take me about a quarter of the time one of these take.. so I can really sit and consider the jokes longer.. now that things are 5 times a week I’ll also be learning how to manage my time on a tighter schedule… eventually I’d like to get Words of Interest 5 days a week and keep LAWLS at 2 days… and reintroduce ABlue at some point.Trust me, ABlue has a plan… everything I do has some sort of tie in to one another, so I don’t plan to abandon ABlue. :]
Hopefully sooner than later I’ll be able to bring that project back. Glad to know you’re still interested in that comic.
So what are they gonna do next year?Like, really, doing the same by-the-month name will probably be “done”, so… Are they gonna go by the day of the week? Number of the day? Chinese year system (year of the rooster, rat, etc)? Will they settle on a permanent name?
It’ll eventually break down into minutes, seconds, milliseconds… they’ll go so far that they will break the code to the atom and solve the issues of world peace and cancer.. just from breaking things down so finely that they will understand the way the world works.. at its most minuet scale.Hipsters, a problem? Or the cure? We’ll never know.
this supposed “band” reminds me of me back in the day when i came up with band name fer people every five minutes. but it was a great experience that i wouldn’t trade fer anything in the world…well except for the…wait where am i whats going on here WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE!!!
you have evolved my child good for you, this is the first step to enlightenment, or some other spiritual crap like that, the acceptance that there is more than one you is the beginning of finding out who you are
I would actually call the Decemberists like…folk rock. I think they are mostly just interesting and cool to listen to. I’m actually a lookin at my Decemberists poster as I type this:)
I love the lights! And the fact that they’re in a music venue now. :)
You like All of the lights, eh? ^_~

Hahaha that is great!! Hipsters annoy me to no end. Seriously. Annnd nice joke:3
I think hipsters annoy hipsters, they enjoy their own self-loathing irony.
All of those tags that you put on Tumblr made me giggle. But in a manly way.

That’s the only type of giggling that I allow myself

After the bit about managing “two comics”, I have to ask: has Anhedonia Blue been abandoned?

I forgot already, I changed my opinions after every second of reading your comment… but the time I was done, I was a whole other person.
you have evolved my child good for you, this is the first step to enlightenment, or some other spiritual crap like that, the acceptance that there is more than one you is the beginning of finding out who you are
now i wonder… metal beard has a beard as hard as metal.just how strong is his jaw just to bend it to eat and talk?
Epically powerful.

I actually like them as well, I came up with this joke AT a Decemberist concert.I agree, I’d also define them as a form of folk/folk-rock.
