I still have 340 pogs, a collection of BONES, A full collection of first gen Pokemon cards, and a yugio deck. … For some reason, I never got rid of my childhood collections. XD
Also of note, I got all my pogs for free, because my aunt owned an arcade and there was a dealer there :D In return for letting him set up a stand, I got ten free pogs a week!
When you say the first gen of Pokemon cards are you talking about w/in the first 150 Pokemon or first editions of the first set? I have the complete first two sets of Pokemon cards still, i just dug em out… It’s strange for whatever reason i held that collection in such high regard that I kept them super duper safe. Mine btw, are not all first editions, a few cards like Blastoise and Charizard took me a while to get a hold of.Also, that sounds like a sweet deal you had set up there! My pog dealer lady gave me free ones cos i went in there everyday. :] … But i didn’t get as many as you did!
First editions of the first set. :D I was really into it as a kid; and my local cornerstore sold, bought, and traded cards. The only card I am missing is Richu because I sold him for $80 at the time.I ended up putting them in a card album and stuffing them away, because one of my friend’s had their whole collection stolen. Rotten kids.Of course, every time I spring clean, I wonder if I should toss them or stick them on e-bay. I never do, though.
Very nice! Yeah, i can’t really remember what of what i have is first editions, i know though that i got into the cards a bit late SO because of that I got less first editions in the first set then I did in the second set. I remember selling a card for like 40-50bucks, it was a glorious moment when i was 12 or 13! lol. I know that there was a lot of stealing going around when i was that age too, cos i think some dude stole one of mine.. cos i remember stealing it back. It was just too unusually that he suddenly had the card he needed right when i lost mine. Their was no proof that it was him, but i took it anyway. God.. kids are evil, stupid. haha.I’m too sentimental to get rid of something like that.. you never know when you’ll want to look back through them for memories.
The plural of POG is POG, not POGs.
… Pogs? :|
Pogs? Pfff.Let me through. I got this shit covered.
Do you still own some? If you do, I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL!
I have about a hundred in a tube in my sock drawer.AND I ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE.
I am so jeolous. I lost mine many years back and totally forgot about this great sport. I bet Moses challenged the Pharoh for control over jews with the timeless game of pogs.
Sagocha my friend, your comment about the Pharaoh and the Jews straight up had me laughing for a full minute or so. That response was made of solid, pure, gold.
*facepalm*
*smacks*
also: “you’re” not “your”.
I fixed the spelling error AND I also made the font a bit bigger so that god damn PARAGRAPH of a monologue that damn crow says is a bit easier to read. :]
Finally .. somebody ELSE points out a spelling mistake. And fuck yeah POGS. I still have mine. -__-
Do you really? I was wondering if I still have mine… but since I still can’t find my coveted Final Fantasy VII, I DOUBT I’ll be able to find my Pogs. :( I miss the 90’s.
yeah just let me get my slammer and i’ll throw down with this crow. pun intended.
Lol, nothing would beat playing pogs with a crow… in my book at least.
I’m moving at the moment, and found a bunch of slammers :) no pogs though :( ..Otherwise I would join you all in the epic battle to rid our lands of the scavenging crows..
With good aim, you can more than likely still take out a few crows with a well forged slammer. :]
are you hinting that you’re actually gonna make a noir project slammer??? please please let it be so
I’ve been looking around trying to figure out if I can make pogs and sell L.A.W.L.S. and Unconscious Ink sets but so far my quest for knowledge pertaining to this endeavor has fallen short…so far… BUT I HAVE YET TO BE DEFEATED!
HOLY CRAP POGS!!!! I use to wreck shop with my brass zero scorpion slammer. Oh wow man this brings back alot of memories. great strip sir, great strip indeed.
Why thank you! I miss my Jurassic Park set I had… and my “Ripper” slammer, i tore shit apart with that one.. people hated me cos I’d actually damage their pogs with that one. Making a pog look like a saw blade, genius.
i feel like a child again…next thing you know some character will whip out the brick that was the original game boy
Curses! You foiled my evil plan to bring back the 90’s complete! Now i gotta write a whole new set of strips! :P
I still have my pogs I got them in Mexico feeling kinda cool now :)
I don’t know what’s cooler, that you got them in Mexico, or that you still have them! I got all mine from an old card shop down the street, that has since closed down years ago, called Scottie’s. Sad thing is, they probably went out of business when pogs went out of fashion. :(
aw… I remember, I used to have a holographic pog… it was my pride and joy as an 8 year old. Shortly later, my holographic Kangaskan pokemon TC became my pride and joy.
I’m not 100% sure, but i think that my Jurassic Park set had a few holographic pogs in it….Yeah i SWEAR it did. I DIDN’T play with any of my Jurassic Park pogs so its sorta hard for me to remember. Either way, I KNOW i was the same way about anything i had that was holographic. You know, come to think of it, it’s sorta funny… I think holograms were sort of a 90’s phenomenon in themselves. I don’t remember the last time I saw one, though, to be fair I no longer collect cards and pogs… just comics. :] Did you play Pokemon the card game? That was another nerdy ass thing i did in the 90’s.
Sad, im reading all these comments and i wana say ya pogs are so kool! but i remember when i was 11ish and saw pogs for the first time i thought, “so you throw this 50 cent peace on the pile of round cardboard?? wouldn’t a rock work better?” …ya i thought pogs were totally gay. ….i suck ::kills self with pog::
Haha, it’s sort of one of those things that when you think about it, it’s amazing that they were ever even popular! I’m sure our parents were thinking.. what the hell is the deal with these? New pet rock? So, I don’t blame ya, but you’re totally a loser for not being a loser like everyone else in the 90’s! :P
LOLOLOL OMFG i totally had a pet rock!!!! My brother gave me his old pet rock as a joke but i thought it was super kool and kept it. damn its googly eyes and poorly drawn mouth!
haha, wow, when did pet rocks come out, the 70s or the 80s? What a terrible idea for a novelty item.
Love that album, by the way.
Ah, a fellow fan of Incubus I see! Glad you caught the reference; I felt it was appropriate for this strip. :]
HAHAHA! I still have pogs laying around somewhere. Wow this brought me back. Awesomeness!
Yay! Happy childhood memories. :]
It’s a great album, and a great song. Almost as good as Make Yourself and S.C.I.E.N.C.E.
somewhere i have a POG slammers arena, basically a raised plastic platform to play pog on
